About me...
I was born and raised in a suburb of New Orleans. I have lived in Texas for almost 20 years. My husband and I have been married for 32 years. We have 3 children(Veronica, Vanessa and Rob) who have gone through RRISD schools. They are grown,, have families of their own and pursuing many different avenues in life.
I am also blessed with 6 grandsons- Jack 7, Danny 6, Derek 4 , Luke 2, Oliver 4 months, and Dustin 1 month . They keep us very busy!
In my free time I love reading, watching football(Geaux Tigers) and spending time with my family.
I earned my Bachelors degree in secondary education from Delta State University (Cleveland, Mississippi) and taught middle and high school History, Government and Economics in Mississippi for 4 years.
My family moved to Texas and I took some time off from teaching when my kids were younger. During this time I began working for HEB at night (my husband and I tag-teamed). I continued my career with HEB for 7 years, but then decided to return to school where I earned my Masters degree from Texas State University in elementary education. I chose elementary education because I encountered many students who could not read their textbooks in high school. I am determined to have my students develop a love of reading in my classroom.
I began working for RRISD in 2008. I was a first grade and fifth grade teacher at Caldwell Heights Elementary School. In 2011, I began teaching fourth grade at Live Oak Elementary.
I enjoy the challenges and successes that each day brings in the classroom.
I look forward to getting to know each of you and am honored to have you as part of our learning community. I truly believe that we can choose to make each day a GREAT DAY, and I am looking forward to sharing these great days with you as we grow: physically, academically, emotionally, and socially.
